'It's a tool to know where the issues lie' | Online resource map launches, offers relief to those living in poverty in Forsyth County
The map puts resources from more than 1,000 agencies from Winston-Salem and Forsyth County in one place.
Carrie McBane of Jackson County made her case for Medicaid expansion at a rally at the state capital last month. “Not being able to afford health care insurance has impacted every aspect of my life,” McBane, who works in a restaurant and has type 2 diabetes, said at a news conference. “In my worst, most trying moments, it really made me feel that the state I live in doesn’t have my best interest at heart.”

Mayor Allen Joines and N.C. Rep. Derwin L. Montgomery today announced formation of The Partnership for Prosperity, a new non-profit initiative that will work to implement the recommendations of the Poverty Thought Force.
A new nonprofit initiative in Winston-Salem is setting its sights on tackling local inequality. Partnership for Prosperity will act on dozens of recommendations put forth by the now defunct Poverty Thought Force that was first formed in 2015 to find solutions for reducing poverty.
